Pokemon: New Frontiers - A Pokemon Roleplaying Campaign powered by Marvel Heroic Roleplaying

What's This?

This blog is a place for me to collect all the various data and archives of my first RPG as a brand-new GM. I'll be posting character sheets, logs of play sessions, explanations and whatever else seems relevant. This is mainly meant for the group to use as a reference, but if you've stumbled across it, feel free to look around.

The Setting

Pokemon: New Frontiers takes place vaguely between generations 5 and 6, but has no obligation to keep canon with anything. Games, anime, trading cards, comics, nothing. The most exciting thing about this summer is getting a ton of new information, and being able to fill in the details ourselves. The world will to some extent split off with the introduction of the Fairy Type, and the game will focus on the characters exploring mysteries and legends of the Pokemon world, new and old alike.

Professor Emily Larch's lab, our heroes' base, lies in a cleared area between Goldenrod City and Lavender Town. This campaign fully expects to make use of the magnet train, various ships and flying/swimming Pokemon to feel free to explore any region.

The System

I'm using a home-made hack of Marvel Heroic Roleplaying. The big differences between the game as written and the hack I'm using will be archived in another post. I chose MHR because of its incredible simplicity (the fact that it takes me about five minutes to write out a character sheet) and its versatility, giving total narrative freedom to players to do anything that makes sense. For example, using the sprinkler system to let an electric-type weaken a rock-type.

This is my first time running a game, and I am anxious to get things going and make sure I don't forget what I've been doing. I'm hoping that using the blog to collect everything in one place will help with that. And if it ends up being fun to read, that's great too.
